This is my first (and for now only) entry in the Greg Recommends series. Here I will share with you products and services that I recommend. The first item is the free version of YouMail. Youmail is a voicemail service, and I use it to replace the standard Verizon service. When you sign up, it gives you instructions on how to forward your voicemail to YouMail instead of your carrier's voicemail service. Some of my favorite features are:
There are lots of other features, but those are what do it for me. Aside from Android and older cellphones, YouMail also works with iPhones, BlackBerries, Palm ($3.99 for this app), mobile web, and land lines. It also offers premium paid services ($4.99-$34.99 per month), which will transcribe varying numbers and lengths of messages to text, and store more and longer messages. If you are a subscriber, you can read your messages on your phone or in your e-mail. I'm happy using the free version, but for the busy businessperson, this might be worthwhile.
You can sign up for the free or paid version of YouMail at youmail.com.
